A bike-friendly city, bicycles can be rented. A vast range of watercraft is available. Free bus-to-bus transfers, good for two hours, are available on buses. A car is often a drawback in Washington. Traffic is horrendous, especially at rush hours so it would best to use the taxis services.

There are three airports, located between 4 and 26 miles from Washington each with a number of terminals servicing national and international airlines. Transport from the airports varies from car rental, the shuttle services, taxis and buses.
