A recent economic boom has transformed Toronto into a lively cosmopolitan metropolis that has completely shaken off its old moralistic image of ‘Toronto the Good’, with art galleries, museums, fine restaurants, theatres and a sizzling nightlife. Most of the attractions and sights of Toronto are clustered in the city centre, including the world’s tallest freestanding structure, the CN Tower.

Buses and taxis are readily available, but walking, cycling and in-line skating are excellent options for exploring Toronto, with rental agencies for both. Ferries will take you to the Toronto Islands, and GO Trains leave from Union Station for points throughout the Toronto suburbs.

Pearson International Airport is situated 27km northwest of the downtown area. The cheapest option of getting to and from the airport is by using a combination of subway and bus, but there are also direct buses, taxis and hotel shuttles.
