San Jose is Northern California's largest city. Surveys have declared it one of the safest and sunniest cities. The city is flourishing with restaurants and shops, and has a reputable art scene. The downtown area has become a major destination for entertainment, arts, nightlife, and sports. Strikingly modern architecture now coexists with finely restored 19th-century and mission-style buildings. Sights and activities range from amusement parks, gardens museums planetariums and religious sites.

There is a state-of-the-art light-rail system, although not as frequently as a visitor might like. Car rentals are available and the roads in and around San Jose are well maintained. The trains system runs 24 hours a day and serve most major attractions, shopping malls, historic sites, and downtown.
