Set between the Wasatch Mountains on the east and the Great Salt Lake on the west, lies Salt Lake City. It is home to the headquarters of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the unrivalled Mormon Tabernacle Choir. It’s the centre of the Mormon universe. Exhilarating outdoor recreation possibilities are only about an hour's drive from the city, and include some of the country's best ski resorts plus miles of terrific mountain trails for hiking, biking, and horseback riding.

It is a very easy city to explore by car, because of the wide streets and abundant parking. National car-rental companies are available here. Harley Davidson motorcycle can be rented. Utah Transit provides a bus service in and around the city although some zones are free. A trolley service offers transport to historic sites and other attractions.

Salt Lake City International is located just north on the west side of the city. Domestic and International Airlines services the airport. Utah Transit Authority runs buses regularly between the airport and downtown. Most hotels also offer free airport pickup for guests. All major car-rental agencies have desks at Salt Lake International.
