Although most of Rome's sights in a confined area, it is too large to be seen solely on foot. Use the metro (subway), a bus, or a taxi to the area you plan to visit, and expect to do a lot of walking once you're there. You can get free city and transportation-route maps at municipal information booths. Fiat has a variety rental car available.

Aeroporto Leonardo da Vinci, also known as Fiumicino, is located 30 km (19 mi) southwest of Rome. A taxi ride takes 30-40 minutes, depending on traffic. Or private limousines can be hired. A choice of two trains travels to the city centre. The Termini express takes you to the train station, which is served by taxis, metro and bus lines.
