The Desert around Palm Springs hasn't always been filled with luxury resorts; through the years, various settles have recognized the region's rich natural attributes and natural splendor. Swimming, sunbathing, golfing, playing tennis and playing golf on world-class golf courses are still the primary pastimes. The Agua Caliente Band of Indians discovered the hot springs in the Coachella Valley. Palm Canyon Drive is an avenue with coffeehouses, outdoor cafés and bars, and frequently held special events. Hollywood stars, sports personalities, politicians, and high-profile folks all can be spotted in Palm Springs.

 

Buses serve the entire Coachella Valley from Desert Hot Springs to Mecca. Having a car is the best way to get around. The roads in and around Palm Springs are well maintained. A four-wheel drive vehicle is sometimes necessary to drive desert back roads. Otherwise, Taxis service is available
 

Palm Springs International Airport is about 2 miles from downtown Palm Springs. Flights from outside the United States involve a change of flights. Flights from Los Angeles take about 40 minutes and roughly six hours from New York and four hours from Chicago. Transport between the Airport and Town is via bus, taxi shuttle vans and car rental is available
