OKLAHOMA is the Choctaw word for "red man" and has a large Native American population. The state was originally set aside as Indian Territory, which is evident in most museums of history. People here are known to be staunchly conservative. Places of interest, such as Tulsa, lie in the hilly-forested northeast, Oklahoma City the state's rejuvenated capital is situated on the far side of the central "tornado alley". The lakes and parks of the south complete with mountains, foliage and bluegrass music has made tourism Oklahoma's second industry after oil.
