New Jersey, quoted by visitors as the "the Garden State" is a result of the rich market garden territory, at the state's heart. Then there is the ugly Turnpike toll road, heavy with truck traffic, which does nothing for its image problem. But in the northwest corner near the Delaware Water Gap, one can visit the picturesque lakes, streams and woodlands. The Atlantic shore offers many lively resorts, from the tattered glitz of Atlantic City to the glorious kitsch of Wildwoods and the old-world charm of Cape May all add to its diversity.
