New Haven is just two hours from New York and Providence, three hours from Boston. It is home to Yale University, one of America's most esteemed universities. New Haven is sprinkled with parks and historic monuments also offering the leisure traveller the performing arts and theatres, plus outstanding museums. Nearby attractions include the Connecticut shoreline, Mystic Seaport, the Connecticut River Valley and all the treasures of the New England countryside. There are some incredibly popular restaurants, and are worth the stop when there's a festival on.

 

Connecticut Transit provides public transportation to areas outside downtown, but service is poor after 6pm. For those with their own car there is ample parking lots and garages near the green and Yale University, where most visitors spend their time. Taxis and car hire is available.
 

Tweed-New Haven Airport receives feeder flights from several major airlines. It's located southeast of the city, Transport from the airport various from taxis car rental and shuttle services. On arrival, it's advisable to catch a cab to your hotel, as the bus and train terminals are in potentially dodgy areas.
