Proudly billing itself as the 'Country Music Capital of the World,' Nashville enjoys its reputation and the fame of being home to all those star-crossed lovers crying into their beer and strumming their guitars to sensible women folk who have taken off, but beneath all the rhinestone and tears, there is real money in a real city. With over 6 million visitors a year coming to enjoy the music and the Grand Ole Opry, it is easy to forget that it is now the financial and insurance centre of the mid-South, as well as a rapidly developing manufacturing base.

Taxis are available, even though it is easy to explore downtown Nashville on foot, but to see all the attractions and sights, and there are many, it is a better option to hire a vehicle from one of the many car rental agencies. A Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA) bus operates a shuttle to and from the riverfront, and to Music Row. Greyhound Bus lines link Nashville with the rest of the United States.
