Montreal is an elegant, laid back city with a fascinating mix of English and French, and the old precinct has stone houses lining its cobblestone streets and architecture from the 18th century. Modern downtown Montreal is thoroughly up to date though and has skyscrapers, restaurants and luxury hotels, and a friendly, romantic ambience that makes it on of the best cities in the world to set up home.

An extensive and practical subway-bus network serves Montreal, with the western sectors accessible by suburban trains from the Bonaventure and Vendéme stations. Bicycles rental facilities are available in this city that has 400km of bike paths, including one that connects Vieux (Old) Montréal to the Parc des Îles and the historic suburb of Lachine.

Mirabel Airport situated about 60km north of downtown hosts international flights, and Dorval Airport situated about 19km to the west handles internal flights and flights to the United States of America. The Connaisseur Company provides bus service to and from both airports.
