The magnificence of Maui’s landscape, and the exotic setting of jungles and cascading waterfalls, volcanoes, and sparkling white sand beaches bring to mind romantic old films of the 50’s, but the modern high-rise resorts of West Maui are definitely of the new millennium. On this beautiful island, travelers can explore the rainforests in supreme solitude or surf with crowd on tourist friendly beaches.

Taxis are available all over the island, and all the major car rental agencies operate in Maui. There is no public bus service, but there are tourist shuttle buses that run between Wailea or Kihei and Kaanapali's Whalers Village shopping centre, and the double-decker Lahaina Express carries to and from Kaanapali and Lahaina. A ferry runs daily between Maui and Lanai, offering a cheaper option to flying.

Hawaiian Airlines and Aloha Airlines fly direct to from Oahu, Kauai, and the Big Island to Kahului, where the island’s main airport is located. Island Air flies into Kapalua West eight times a day from Honolulu and twice daily into Hana from Honolulu, Kahului and Molokai.
