
| KANSAS, associated with Little House on the Prairie and The Wizard of Oz, is very different from its troubled past that made it known as "bleeding Kansas." The great cattle drives’, from Texas made towns like Abilene, Wichita and Dodge City centres of the "Wild West." Kansas reputed as the “bread basket state” due to most of the nations wheat being harvested here. The green and hilly northeast, speckled with woods and lakes, is home to the industrial city of Topeka, the liberal college town Lawrence, and the suburbs of Kansas City.
