Known, for its romance and folklore, Granada is spread over two main hills, the Alhambra and the Albaicín, Here one can find excellent examples of Spanish Renaissance architecture. The summer palace, Generalife with its fountains and gardens, situated at the foot of Spain’s highest mountain, the Sierra Nevada overlooks Granada. The Sacromonte hill, which overlooks the city from the North, is famous for its cave dwellings, once the home to a large gypsy community. Puerta Real, the commercial hub of Granada with many stores, hotels, cafes, and restaurants.

Granada's bus station is located 3 km north west of the city. All services operate from here. The train station is 1.5 km west of the city. There are 3 trains, which run daily to various destinations. Car rental can be expensive but weekly rates are cheaper.

Granada's airport is 10 miles (16km) west of the centre of town. It is served by various airlines from Barcelona and Madrid. A shuttle bus departs several times daily to the city centre. Taxis and rental cars are also available transport to and from the airport
