Money and Dubai dance together to the double drumbeat of progress and innovation. This is where the world’s richest horse race is staged, where the world’s tallest hotel stands on a vast man-made island, and where an award-winning international airline was built up in a mere 15 years. Shopping, sand and brilliant sunshine make Dubai a top destination of the monied international crowd, but also welcomes the more budget conscious accommodating all equal care.

Although it is possible to hire vehicles in Dubai, it is an extremely dangerous city to drive in and this form of transport is best avoided. Buses link Dubai with the rest of the UAE and surrounding countries, as well as serving the city, and provide monthly bus passes known as taufeer, which will get you unlimited travel, throughout the city. A good way to view the waterfront is to hire one of the small motorboats known as abras.

Dubai International Airport (DXB) has recently undergone a US$540 million expansion and its new facilities include a five-star hotel, business and conference rooms, a spa, and an enlarges duty-free shopping complex.
