| COLORADO, ranges from the flat, endless plains of the east to the colossal mountains of the west. Native Americans hunted and trapped in lush mountain valleys in summer, and returned to the prairies for the winter. Due to wars and the land grants, with Mexico there is a strong Hispanic influence. From Denver on the east edge of the Rockies, to the southeast, one can ski at one of the leading skiing resorts in Aspen, or marvel at the awesome sight of the red-rock formations of Colorado Springs.
