Called the “Holy City” because of its skyline of spires and steeples of the 181 churches that represent 25 different denominations from the early days when the city was known for religious freedom, Charleston has endured and prevailed against three centuries of epidemics, earthquakes, fires, and hurricanes. Having carefully preserved its architectural heritage and restored and renovated old buildings for residential and commercial purposes Charleston is one of the South’s most beautiful cities.
