home > France > Cannes

It is here that the real glamour begins: the dreamland of sapphire waters and indigo sky; white villas, evenings are air perfumed with jasmine and mimosa; palm trees and parasol pines silhouetted against sunsets of apricot and gold. Behind the coast, medieval villages mushroom out of the nearby hills, offering refugees a taste of old Provence. Cannes becomes a hive of activity during the International Film Festival, regattas, galas, and even a Mimosa Festival. The city consists of only one street, promenade de la Croisette, which curves along the coast.

Buses are the only form of public transport in Cannes. Buses run every 15 minutes. Various packages are available. Taxis are reliable and arrive within about five minutes anywhere in the city centre. Limousines can be hired for a minimum of four hours. Bicycles can also be rented.
