Budapest offers Old World grandeur with a cultural, political and intellectual heart. It is packed with cafés, restaurants, markets, and bars. Situated on the banks of the Danube River, the city unites the hills of Buda and the boulevards of Pest. The charm of a visit lies in unexpected glimpses into shadowy courtyards and in long views down sunlit cobbled streets. The past lingers on in the often-crumbling architectural details of the antique structures. Famous for its medicinal spas, there are some 14 historic working baths.

Trams and buses are abundant and convenient means of transport. The Trolley bus and regular buses service all the major attraction. Car rentals rates can be high so it is best to arrange your rental from home. Be aware that traffic regulations are strictly enforced.

Ferihegy Repülotér, Hungary's only commercial airport with regularly scheduled service is 24 km (15 mi) southeast of downtown Budapest. Many hotels offer car or minibus transportation. Minibuses run every half hour to the city. It takes almost the same time as a taxi. A Shuttle bus, provides a convenient door-to-door service between the airport and any address in the city
