Located 350 miles from Salt Lake City, and 490 from Seattle, the small city of Boise is a lively and congenial oasis of greenery in the arid south-western regions of Idaho. Established in 1862 as Fort Boise for the protection of pioneers, the early French trappers called the place les bois, namely ‘the woods’ and the name Boise is an adaptation of this early appellation.

Boise is served by the Boise–Winnemucca/North-western Stage and Greyhound buses, and the extensive local bus service, the city’s Boise Urban Services (BUS). Car rental companies are available.

Boise Airport hosts numerous local and national airlines and offer ground transportation services on the lower level from colour coded curbs, e.g. Taxis – black curb, Courtesy shuttles – green curb, Revenue shuttles – Blue curb, and Buses from the purple curb. Car rental companies are also located on the Lower Level.
