Home to the University of California, where protests led to the most famous student riots in U.S history. Telegraph Avenue has a vast range of places of interest. Along the bay itself, at the Berkeley Marina, you can rent windsurfing boards and sailboats, or just watch the sun set behind the Golden Gate. Tilden Park has a botanical garden, 18-hole golf course, miniature steam trains, pony rides, and a vintage carousel. Swimming is permitted at Lake Anza. It's a charming town with all types of people, vast parks, great shopping, some incredible restaurants and world-renowned coffee shops.

AC Transit, is the public bus system in Berkeley. Except for short trips, this is not the most convenient way to get around. Car rental is available as driving is relatively simple and there is ample parking. A choice of, water ferry, shuttle and taxis are available transport in around Berkeley.

Oakland Airport is across the bay from San Francisco, 14 miles from Berkeley a 30-minute drive. There are 2, terminals. Buses run every 15 minutes between the airport and the BART Oakland Coliseum rail station. America's Shuttle, Bayporter Express, and other shuttles serve major hotels and provide door-to-door service.
