The frenetic bustle of Bangkok with its seething mass of humanity is exhilarating and incredibly addictive, whether in the air-conditioned western style shopping malls or the noisy, traffic jammed Chinatown. The seedy opium dens, brothels, pawnshops and gambling dens of yesteryear are not as abundant today, and have been largely replaced by cheap markets with an amazing array of stalls selling aromatic food, exquisite fabrics, hardware, and generally any saleable item imaginable.

The Bangkok Transportation System (BTS) Skytrain has made getting around the city a lot easier. It's service covers most of the major tourist areas. The State Railway System has main terminal in Bangkok is Hua Lampong Station. The system is extensive, but can be slow and frustrating, and buses are a better option, being faster, much less expensive and more comfortable. All the major car rental agencies are found in Bangkok.
