Although considered by the less informed as merely a stopover to nearby Santa Fe and Taos, Albuquerque is a charming place with an appealing character and a history that blends Hispanic, American and Native cultures. With its distinctive architecture and local art, visitors will find much of interest should they care to take a break here. Not only will they find accommodation inexpensive and comfortable, but also that Albuquerque is a great place to set up base with its close proximity to deserts, mountains and fascinating Native American sites.
